The Crisis of JFK

"Forgive your enemies but never forget their names."

This is my entry for the sixth round of the Scratch that [link] competition by Poetry book. The theme was visual and the subject was chance. Hopefully you can read the text clearly the red colour made it stand out most clearly for me but not every eye is the same.

Here's what its supposed to say if your having trouble:

In Chinese the word crisis has two characters,
They play opposing roles much like lead actors.
One is dark and represents danger,
Of which a crisis is no stranger.
The other is bright and means opportunity,
A crisis is good at bringing about unity.

Such unity once occurred
When a gunman to action spurred.
Oswald was the man’s name,
And his actions caused a nations shame.
Though there was such universal grief
The world soon sighed with relief.

The death of America’s President,
Risked letting the Horseman War a resident.
With Europe flattened for a third time
And Asia bombed into muddy grime.
And Nuclear fire melting Russian Winter,
And reducing the Olive tree of piece to splinters.

But the world soon gave thanks,
John F’s death did not move Tanks.
Instead, the world had a reprieve,
From Hawks and Bears who took their leave.
For once, the world was peaceful and free,
For Moscow united with DC.
