Mother Jones on Soldiers by Skargill Mother Jones on Soldiers by Skargill
Quote by Mother Jones (not the newspaper) the photo is from an IWW led demonstration during the 1912 textile's strike in Lawrence Massachusetts. The Strike was more commonly known as the Bread and Roses strike due to a slogan on a female workers placard.

Brilliant woman, our Irish union magazine did an essay on her, she said "pray for the dead and fight like blazes for the living".  She campaigned for the banning of child labour so that kids could spend time getting an education to better themselves and faced down every mine owner and factory boss she came across at a time they were more than willing to use hired strike breakers to crack skulls. great picture, especially like how it radiates the tension between the two groups

"Brilliant woman,"

Indeed her autobiography was very illuminating, standing up to machine guns and marching on the President to end child labour are just some of her highlights.

"pray for the dead and fight like blazes for the living".

She said that quite a few times skargill.deviantart.com/art/Mo… it was basically her catchphrase.

"great picture, especially like how it radiates the tension between the two groups"

Yeah its one the most iconic photo's of the Lawrence strike.
